“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”— Booker T. Washington
Happy Monday cousin’s!
It’s officially Publishmas day 9, time for a new cousin to shine!
Tonight’s cousin chat is another special one, dedicated to an angel I encountered last week:
. It all started when I posted a quick note about how Thursday had completely drained me. Sometimes, you just need to get those feelings out, you know? You know. What I didn’t expect was a response from him, asking me “What had happened?”I opted to keep it short and to the point when telling him about my rough day, but surprisingly he didn’t just leave it at that. Instead of stopping at the surface, he decided to take the mile instead of the inch. He checked back in with me on Friday, asking if my day had gotten any better. That small gesture meant more to me than he’ll ever know.
Here’s a little vulnerability moment—because I think we all need to be real sometimes.
As the "strong friend," it’s rare for people to check in on me.
You know how it goes if you’re the strong one—you’re always the one offering support, never the one receiving it. It’s easy to get used to being the one everyone leans on, but sometimes, it’s nice to feel seen and cared for, even just for a moment.
So, Mr. Bourne, I just want to take a second to return that love. Thank you. You may not have realized it, but your kindness made a real impact in my week.
You’re an angel! You know exactly what to say and when to show up. In a world where it's easy to feel overlooked, your kindness reminds us there’s still genuine hearts out there. I pray this chat reciprocates the same happiness you gave me.
Chat soon, Candice
