TAKE GOALS SERIOUSLY.
How to turn dreams Into reality
Hey cousinsss!!!!
I felt so bad not dropping a chat last Sunday.
Right when I get on a roll writing, during my already over-demanding life schedule, something weird happens. This time I got sick... back to back... right in the peak of summer. Like how does that even happen?
For a second I felt that little voice in my head trying to discourage me from writing this week too, but I refuse to be defeated.
My energy is finally back. My vocal cords not so much. But Thank God for writing.
As you know, or maybe you didn’t know, I’m currently reading A Happy Pocket Full of Money by David Gikandi.
This book is filled with practical wisdom on earning, keeping, and expanding wealth. Today I’m on page 78.
The sentence…
TAKE GOALS SERIOUSLY.
stood out to me the most. Actually... that whole little paragraph had my attention.
I wasn’t surprised to read that the 3% of students who wrote down their goals became more successful than the ones who didn’t. We’ve all heard some version of “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
What surprised me was that only 3% of the class even took the initiative to write their goals down. Three percent.
That made me stop and ask myself...
Do people not understand how important goals are?
Or even deeper...
Do people actually know how to set them?
David Gikandi writes,
“Goals are planned thoughts, directed thoughts.”
That’s got to be the best definition for goals I’ve ever read. It’s an simple explanation that gets straight to the point.
Our ideas are meant to be explored. We dream for a reason. Every vision we have starts as a thought before it ever becomes reality. But thoughts without direction usually stay... just thoughts.
Looking back over my own life, I wouldn’t be where I am today without goals.
Anything I want. I get.
Not because I’m lucky. But because I’ve learned how to turn seeds into fruit.
And I think that’s where a lot of people get stuck. People know how to say what they want.
“I want to lose weight.”
“I want to buy a house.”
“I want to start a business.”
“I want financial freedom.”
“I want to start a business.”
But then...They stop there. Wanting isn’t the same thing as having.
So let me show you the little formula that’s helped me over the years.
THE DREAMS TO REALITY FORMULA…
Dream → Goal → Milestones → Daily Actions → Consistency → Results
Step 1: Start With the Dream
Ask yourself:
What do I actually want in life right now ?
For me, the dream is financial freedom through multiple streams of passive income. Heavy on the passive. Your girl is not trying to break a sweat every time she wants to make a dollar.
The clearer the target, the easier it is to hit.
Step 2: Create the Goal
Dreams inspire you.
Goals direct you.
A goal should be specific enough that you know exactly what you’re working toward.
For example, my current financial goal is to turn a $25 trading account into $5,000 in 30 days using my “See 20. Take 20.” strategy.
That’s not just a dream anymore. That’s a plan.
Step 3: Break It Into Milestones
Most people focus on the mountain instead of the next hill to climb. That’s why goals feel overwhelming. Instead of staring at the finish line, create checkpoints.
For my trading challenge, my milestones look something like this:
• Complete my first profitable week.
• Reach a 50% account growth milestone. (2 days away from here!!!)
• Continue stacking consistent gains.
• Finish the challenge with the highest account value possible through disciplined execution.
Every milestone becomes a small victory along the way.
Step 4: Turn Milestones Into Daily Actions
This is where dreams stop being ideas and start becoming reality. Every single day, ask yourself:
“What’s one thing I can do today that moves me one step closer to my goal?”
For my trading challenge, that looks like:
• Showing up to my iPad by 8:30 a.m.
• Only taking A+ setups.
• Seeing 20%. Taking 20%.
• Rinse and repeat.
I can’t control what the market does. But I can control whether I follow my plan. Because at the end of the day...
Actions matter more than outcomes.
Step 5: Stay Consistent
This is where most people quit. Not because the goal was too big...but because excitement wears off. The key is to keep showing up, even when you want to give up.
Motivation comes and goes. Consistency is what creates progress.
Think about brushing your teeth. You don’t wake up every morning excited to do it. You do it because it’s become part of your normal routine. Your goals deserve that same kind of commitment.
Keep showing up.
Keep stacking small wins.
Keep trusting the process.
One day you’ll look up and realize all those little actions have turned into something big.
Step 6: Watch the Results
Results are simply the byproduct of consistent action. They’re the harvest after you’ve planted, watered, and cared for the seed. Sometimes results show up exactly how you imagined.
Sometimes they look completely different. And sometimes they take longer than you expected.
Don’t let that discourage you. Your job isn’t to force the outcome. Your job is to stay committed to the process. The more consistent you become, the more confidence you build.
And confidence gives you the courage to continue. That’s how dreams slowly become reality.
Step 7: Celebrate Small Wins
I think this is where we cheat ourselves the most. So many people wait until the finish line to celebrate.
Meanwhile, life is giving us little victories every single day…
This chat is one of my small wins.
At the beginning of this essay I told y’all I almost didn’t write this week because I got sick. My vocal cords still aren’t back to normal, and for a minute I let myself believe maybe I should just skip another Sunday. But here we are.
One of my biggest dreams isn’t just financial freedom...It’s becoming a writer people look forward to hearing from every week.
So on this beautiful Sunday, I’m celebrating this chat. And if you’ve made it all the way to the end, I’m celebrating you too.
Because every time you read one of these chats, restack, leave a comment, hit the heart button, or simply keep coming back every Sunday... you’re helping me achieve one of my dreams.
Thank you for believing in my words enough to spend a little piece of your day with me. That means more than you know.
Now go celebrate one of your small wins this week too, cousin.
I’ll see you next Sunday.
Candice 🤎
