“The Holy Spirit has power to change your situation, your circumstances, your season, your everything.” - Unknown
Happy Sunday Cousin!!!
Welcome Back to another Chat with Candice!
Y’all, I’ve been reading. And when I say I’ve been reading, I mean READING READING—finishing a book in one day kinda of reading. It’s been forever since a book has held the power to make me not want to put it down. But here we are, and I’m about to serve you a delicious review of my latest read, Operating in the Gifts of the Spirit by Shamil Gesser.
First things first: I’m debating whether to give the book rating at the beginning or the end of the review.
*Incoming poll because this is a group chat and all decisions will be mutually made. My daughter is the first unofficial vote for beginning, so beginning it is today!
Book Title: Operating in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Candice’s Quill Spill Rating: 5 Pens
I know, I know….coming in with 5 pens for my first book review might be a bit bold. But you know what? Authors deserve their credit, especially when their words hold the power to upgrade your life. The season I’m in might have pushed the pen from four to five, but I’m okay with that.
God has given us every tool we need to build the life we desire. Before we inherit the reward we must do the work. The work being getting the knowledge to know better so we can do better.
“Nobody get’s rich by being lazy’- Shamil Gesser
Before we jump into the meat of this message we need to identify what the Holy Spirit is…
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity—essentially, God in spirit form.
God loves us so much he planted a spirit inside us to help us achieve our purpose for being here on Earth. All the guidance to get you where you are predestined to be already lives inside of you.
You are the blueprint for creating your life desires, and just as an architect works closely with a skilled construction team to bring a vision to life, partnering with the Holy Spirit allows you to align your plans with divine wisdom to fulfill God’s will.
Operating in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit talks about exactly that. For anyone aware of their gift and interested in learning how to use it to the best of their God-given ability, this book is for you.
The Author:
Shamil Gesser is the senior leader of Revolutionise The Nations, where he uses his spiritual gifts to administer the gospel, healing, and deliverance to people around the world. In this book, Shamil shares his first encounter with the Holy Spirit at age 19 and how it developed over time.
The purpose of Operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit is pretty self explanatory. Shamil breaks down the root of each gift into three categories.
1. The Revelatory Gifts:
The Word of Wisdom
The Word of Knowledge
The Spirit of Discerment
2. The Vocal Gifts:
Tongues
The Interpretation of Tongues
Prophecy
3. The Power Gifts:
The Gift of Healing
The Gift of Miracles
The Gift of Faith
Mantles and Annointing
Prayers
Each chapter focuses on one gift with wisdom being the foundation for all gifts.
Which gift category are you under?
There is a need for wisdom before anyone taps into any other operation of the gifts- Shamil Gesser
Now, let’s get into my favorite parts of this book….The way Shamil took his time to support his teachings with scripture? Hello??!! Chef’s kiss, so good.
I already planned on testing his words, and he went ahead and tested them for me, which showed me, from the very first chapter, that he was standing on business about the words he had written.
If that didn’t seal the deal for me, he further taught me something new about the dimensions of the gifts that I’d never heard of, as well as the difference between operating under the authority of a gift and within the anointing of that gift.
Just because you have a gift doesn’t mean you have the authority or the anointing to use it in every setting. Page 61 highlights the importance of the company we keep and the environments we surround ourselves with in order to fully cultivate the capacity to operate in our gifts.
The icing on the cake for this review was the final chapter for me. Shamil shared 6 prayer points to further assist in initiating the expansion of operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The first one, asking the Holy Spirit to partner with you:
‘Holy Spirit I ask of You that I may get to know you for intimacy and fellowship with You, and may I never prioritize your power above your presence. May You bring me to a place of perfect fellowship and obedience to you. Spirit of the living God draw me closer to You and make me sensitive to your voice, your ways, who you are, and your presence. Help me not grieve You but help me to live a life of quick repentance and humble myself before you, in Jesus’s name the Son of the live God. Amen
4 days ago Jombo post this note, and I couldn’t agree more.
You can only learn so much from church, your parents, and community when it comes to your relationship with God. At some point, you need to sit down with the source. Drop that bottle and pick up your plate.
This book has been a divine teaching tool for helping me deepen my understanding of the Holy Spirit to begin operating FULLY in my spiritual gifts. As a successful solopreneur operating in my God given gifts has provided me access to bless not only myself but enrich the lives of others as well.
I pray this review does the same for you.

Loved this so much—felt like I was right there chatting with you. That line about the Holy Spirit shifting everything really set the tone, and the way you broke down those spiritual gifts was so clear and powerful. Also, now I’m curious to check out that book too! Thanks for sharing this with such warmth and depth.
